Gosaikunda Lake Trek Itinerary Details
Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu (1,400 m) then transfer to the hotel.
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, our friendly team from Himalayan Gateway Trek will be there to greet you with a warm welcome and take you to your hotel.
Once you arrive, you’ll receive a warm welcome, with staff presenting you with traditional flower garlands. They will assist you with the check-in process and make sure you’re comfortable. Afterward, you can relax and get ready for your adventure the next day. In the evening, walk around Thamel and have dinner whenever you like.

Day 02: Drive to Kathmandu (1400m) to Dhunche (1960m) by Local Jeep/Bus.
On the second day of the Gosaikunda Lake Trek, you will embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche, the gateway to Langtang National Park. The journey covers approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) and takes around 6-7 hours by local bus or jeep, depending on road conditions.
As the road ascends, it becomes winding and rugged, offering breathtaking views of the Trishuli River and distant Himalayan peaks. Key stops along the way include Trishuli Bazaar and Betrawati, where travelers can take short breaks. Upon reaching Dhunche, the gateway to Langtang National Park, you can explore the town, check into a lodge, and prepare for the trek ahead.
Day 03: Trek from Dhunche (1960m) to Chandan Bari (3330 m).
On the third day, the trek begins from Dhunche, following a well-marked trail that gradually ascends through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron. The path offers a mix of steep climbs and gentle slopes, passing small settlements and teahouses along the way. As you gain altitude, the vegetation changes, and the views of the Langtang Himalayas become more prominent.
After a steady 5-6 hour trek, you reach Chandanbari (also known as Sing Gompa), a beautiful village known for its Buddhist monastery and traditional cheese factory. This peaceful stop is an excellent place to rest, acclimatize, and enjoy the serene mountain surroundings before continuing toward Gosaikunda.
Day 04: Trek from Chandan Bari (3330 m) to Gosaikunda (4380 m).
Today’s trek is more challenging than the previous day as the trail steadily ascends through rocky and narrow paths. After breakfast at Chandanbari, you begin the climb, gradually moving through barren hills and facing chilly mountain breezes. After about 1.5 hours of trekking, you reach Cholangpati, a scenic viewpoint offering breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal.
The first lake you encounter is Saraswati Kunda, followed by Bhairab Kunda, before finally arriving at the majestic Gosaikunda Lake after an additional one-hour hike. Upon arrival, you can explore the holy lake and its surroundings, visiting nearby lakes such as Surya Kunda. You will spend the night in a teahouse near Gosaikunda, soaking in the serene and spiritual atmosphere.
Day 05: Trek from Gosaikunda (4380 m) to Dhunche (2030 m).
After enjoying the serene beauty of Gosaikunda Lake, you begin the long descent back to Dhunche. The trek follows the same route, passing through Bhairab Kunda, Saraswati Kunda, and Lauribina, offering final breathtaking views of the Langtang Himalayas. As you descend further, the landscape transitions from rocky alpine terrain to lush forests, bringing a noticeable change in temperature and oxygen levels.
You pass through Cholangpati and Chandanbari, where you can take short breaks before continuing the downhill journey. The trail then leads through dense rhododendron and pine forests, eventually reaching Dhunche after 7-8 hours of trekking.
Upon arrival, you can relax at a teahouse, reflecting on the incredible journey before preparing for the return to Kathmandu the next day.
Day 06: Drive to Dhunche (1960m) to Kathmandu (1400m).
After an early breakfast, you take a local jeep or bus for the return journey to Kathmandu. The 6-7 hour drive follows the same scenic route, passing through forests, terraced fields, and small villages along the Trishuli River. The winding mountain roads gradually descend, leading back to the bustling city.

Day 07: Departure from Kathmandu.
On the final day of your journey, you will be transferred to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to do some last-minute shopping or explore the city.
