Manaslu (8,163 m), Ganesh Himal, Himalchuli, and Peak 29 or Ngadi Chuli.

This trek, officially opened in 1991, takes you through remote valleys, picturesque villages, and the serene wilderness of the Gorkha District. Highlights include Manaslu Base Camp, the Rupina La Pass, and the Larkya La Pass, which presents a demanding but rewarding challenge.

Comprehensive Manaslu Rupina La Pass Trekking Guide

The Manaslu Rupina La Pass Trek is one of Nepal’s most remote and adventurous trekking routes, offering a unique opportunity to explore the rugged landscapes, traditional cultures, and the grandeur of the majestic Manaslu Range. Located in the heart of the Himalayas, this trek takes you through isolated villages, dense forests, high-altitude pastures, and across the breathtaking Rupina La Pass (4,700m), all while offering spectacular views of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Himlung, and Ganesh Himal.

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola, the starting point of the trek. From there, the trail gradually ascends through remote villages like Arughat and Dyang, where you will encounter the welcoming locals, primarily of Tibetan and Gurung descent. As you trek deeper into the mountains, you will pass through lush forests, beautiful terraced fields, and pristine rivers, all while gaining impressive views of the surrounding peaks.

A major highlight of the trek is crossing the Rupina La Pass, a challenging but rewarding section that offers one of the most panoramic and awe-inspiring views of the entire Manaslu Range. The pass itself lies at a height of 4,700 meters and provides an opportunity to experience the dramatic change in landscape—from alpine meadows to rugged rocky ridges and glacial valleys.

After crossing Rupina La, trekkers descend into the peaceful Tsum Valley, known for its rich Tibetan Buddhist culture and stunning surroundings. The valley is often referred to as a “hidden gem” in the Himalayas, offering a serene atmosphere far from the bustling crowds of more popular trekking routes. The trek continues to Manaslu Base Camp, where you will be surrounded by snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and pristine mountain landscapes.

The trek involves moderate to strenuous sections, requiring a good level of physical fitness and endurance. You will need to be prepared for long trekking days, with altitudes ranging from 700 meters to 4,700 meters. Acclimatization is key, and the trek includes enough time for the body to adjust to the increasing elevation. There are sections with steep ascents, rocky paths, and high-altitude ridges, making it ideal for trekkers who are looking for a challenge and want to explore one of Nepal’s less-traveled routes.

The best time to embark on the Manaslu Rupina La Pass Trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather is most stable, with clear skies and pleasant trekking conditions. The trails are dry, and the weather is ideal for camping and enjoying the natural beauty around you.

This trek is ideal for those seeking a more remote and untouched Himalayan experience, away from the crowds. It combines stunning natural beauty with cultural richness, offering trekkers the opportunity to connect with both the land and the people. For those seeking a challenging adventure through one of Nepal’s most stunning mountain regions, the Comprehensive Manaslu Rupina La Pass Trek with Himalayan Gateway Trek is the ultimate choice.

The ideal time to embark on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). In spring, the weather is mild and the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, creating a vibrant, picturesque landscape. Autumn, on the other hand, offers clear skies, crisp mountain air, and dry trails, which makes it an optimal time for trekking. These seasons provide perfect conditions for enjoying breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, as well as the iconic sunrise from Poon Hill.

The trek usually takes about 10 to 14 days, depending on your pace and any additional excursions you choose to take. It is considered a moderate trek, suitable for both beginner and experienced trekkers. The trail includes a mix of stone staircases, forest paths, and gradual ascents, with the highest point being Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters. While the trek doesn’t require any technical climbing skills, trekkers should be comfortable walking 5–7 hours a day with a light backpack. This makes it accessible to those with moderate fitness levels.

Your journey begins with a private vehicle or tourist bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara, followed by a short drive to the trekking starting point at Nayapul or Ulleri. Upon completion of the trek, we will arrange your return trip to Pokhara, followed by a comfortable drive back to Kathmandu. All transportation, including airport transfers and overland travel, is included in the package to ensure a hassle-free experience.

Each day of the trek begins with a hearty breakfast around 6:30–7:00 AM, followed by 5 to 7 hours of trekking through diverse landscapes, including villages, forests, rivers, and terraced fields. You will take breaks at local teahouses for meals and rest. Evenings are spent relaxing in cozy lodges, enjoying the mountain views, and interacting with fellow trekkers. It’s a chance to unwind, share stories, and enjoy the hospitality of the locals.

Accommodation during the trek will be in local teahouses, providing basic but comfortable rooms that are typically twin-sharing with shared bathrooms. Meals will include three daily servings of nutritious, home-cooked food, with a mix of Nepali and Western dishes, such as dal bhat, noodles, soups, and pancakes. Tea or coffee is also included to help keep you energized throughout the day.

To trek in the Annapurna region, you will need the following permits, which are included in the package: Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System). Our team will handle all the necessary paperwork, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

For support and safety, you will be accompanied by a licensed, English-speaking guide who is trained in first aid and knows the terrain well.
