Comprehensive Round Dhaulagiri Trekking.

The Round Dhaulagiri Trek is a thrilling expedition through one of the most remote and untouched regions of the Himalayas, circling the seventh-highest mountain in the world, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters). Known for its wild landscapes and raw beauty, this trek offers a unique blend of adventure, solitude, and high-altitude challenge. Trekkers traverse a wide range of terrains—from lowland villages and dense rhododendron forests to icy glaciers, high mountain passes, and windswept valleys—surrounded by towering Himalayan giants like Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Nilgiri.

The journey typically begins with a drive from Pokhara to Beni, the official starting point of the trek. From there, the trail gradually ascends along the Myagdi Khola, passing through traditional Magar villages such as Muri and Boghara. As the elevation increases, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with alpine meadows giving way to glacial moraines and rocky ridges. The trek includes overnight stays at Italian Base Camp, Glacier Camp, and Dhaulagiri Base Camp—each offering surreal mountain views and a true sense of wilderness. Acclimatization is carefully managed to prepare for the two major high passes: French Pass (5,360m) and Dhampus Pass (5,200m), both offering breathtaking panoramic vistas of snow-capped peaks.

After crossing Dhampus Pass, trekkers descend into the beautiful Hidden Valley, one of the most remote and peaceful areas in the region. The trail then continues to Yak Kharka and ends in Jomsom, a popular town in the Mustang district, where trekkers can either fly or drive back to Pokhara.

This trek is ideal for seasoned trekkers seeking a remote, off-the-grid Himalayan experience. It requires good physical fitness, proper acclimatization, and a spirit of adventure, as the route includes multiple nights of wilderness camping and limited access to facilities. The best seasons for the Round Dhaulagiri Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the skies are clear and the views are spectacular. For those who dream of an immersive and unforgettable journey into the heart of the Himalayas, the Round Dhaulagiri Trek offers one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking experiences.
