Everest Three Pass Trek Itinerary Details
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport (1,400m) and transfer to the hotel for check-in and rest.
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, our friendly team from Himalayan Gateway Trek will be there to greet you with a warm welcome and take you to your hotel.
Once you arrive, you’ll receive a warm welcome, with staff presenting you with traditional flower garlands. They will assist you with the check-in process and make sure you’re comfortable. Afterward, you can relax and get ready for your adventure the next day. In the evening, walk around Thamel and have dinner whenever you like.

Day 02: Fly to Kathmandu (1,400m) to Lukla (2,800m) and trek to Phakding ( 2,640m).
Your trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the most thrilling airports in the world. During the flight, you will enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas.
Upon landing in Lukla (2,840m), you will meet your trekking team and start the journey towards Phakding (2,610m). The trek follows a gradual downhill trail, passing through beautiful Sherpa villages, lush green forests, and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. After about 3 to 4 hours of trekking, you will reach Phakding, a small and peaceful village along the river. Here, you can rest and enjoy the fresh mountain air, preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Day 03: Trek from Phakding ( 2,640m) to Namche Bazar ( 3,440 m).
After an early breakfast in Phakding, you will begin your trek towards Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub and gateway to the Everest region. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge.
 At Monjo (2,835m), you will enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where your trekking permits will be checked. From here, the trail becomes steeper as you climb towards Namche. The final section of the trek includes a challenging uphill climb through dense forests. If the weather is clear, you may get your first glimpse of Mount Everest along the way.
After 6 to 7 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Namche Bazaar (3,440m), a lively town filled with lodges, cafes, shops, and stunning mountain views. Here, you can relax and explore the surroundings, preparing for the next adventure in the Everest region.
Day 04 : Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar ( 3,440 m) and visit Khumjung Village( 3,970m) & Everest View Hotel (3,880m)
To adjust to the increasing altitude and prevent altitude sickness, today is an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Instead of complete rest, you will go on a short hike to higher elevations and return to Namche for the night. After breakfast, you will hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m), one of the highest-altitude hotels in the world.
The trail offers stunning panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The steep climb takes about 2 to 3 hours, but the breathtaking scenery makes it worth the effort. After spending some time there, you will descend back to Namche Bazaar, which takes about 1 to 2 hours.
Once back in Namche, you can explore the town, visit the Sherpa Museum, or relax in a café. This day helps your body adapt to the altitude while allowing you to enjoy some of the best views of the Everest region.
Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar ( 3,430m) to Tengboche (3,800 m).
After breakfast in Namche Bazaar, you will begin your trek towards Tengboche, one of the most spiritual and scenic spots in the Everest region. The trail starts with a gentle and scenic path, offering breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
As you continue, the trail descends towards Phunki Tenga, a small village by the Dudh Koshi River, where you can take a short rest. After a strenuous ascent, you will finally reach Tengboche (3,860m), home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest monastery in the Khumbu region
Day 06: Trek from Tengboche (3,800 m) to Dingboche( 4410m).
After enjoying the peaceful morning atmosphere in Tengboche, we begin our trek with a descent through a forest filled with rhododendrons, birch, and conifers. We cross the Imja Khola River on a suspension bridge and gradually ascend to the beautiful village of Pangboche, offering fantastic views of Ama Dablam.
Continuing the trail, we pass through cultivated fields and small villages, gradually gaining altitude. As we climb higher, the landscape becomes more barren and open, with alpine terrain and wide valleys. Finally, we reach Dingboche, a windswept settlement surrounded by towering peaks. This village is a popular acclimatization stop, and we spend the night at a teahouse here.
Day 07: Acclimatization and Explore Day at Dingboche (4410m) , Climb Nangkartshang Peak( 5,083m).
Today is a planned acclimatization day to help your body adapt to the higher altitude. A short and steep hike to Nangkartshang Peak offers spectacular views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, and surrounding peaks. This optional climb also supports proper altitude adjustment before heading higher. After the hike, return to Dingboche and spend the rest of the day resting and exploring the village. Overnight at a teahouse.
Day 08: Trek from Dingboche (4410m) to Chukkung (4730m).
Today’s trek is a short 2- to 2.5-hour walk, but it can feel challenging due to the thinner air at this altitude. This walk helps your body acclimatize to the higher elevation. Once in Chhukung, you have the option to rest at the teahouse or take a hike to Chhukung Ri (5,546m) for stunning 360-degree mountain views. From here, you can see peaks like Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Imja Tse (Island Peak), Barunche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kawangde.
You’ll also get a view of Imja Lake and glaciers, which will become more prominent when crossing the Kongma La Pass (5,535m) the following day. In the evening, make sure to prepare for the next day’s challenging ascent by filling your water bottles, buying energy bars, and gathering warm clothes and a head torch.
Day 09: Trek from Chhukung (4730m) to Lobuche (4930m) via Kongma La (5535m).
Today’s trek is one of the most challenging, as we cross the Kongma La Pass at 5,535m. The ascent to the pass is steep and strenuous, but the reward is well worth it. From the top, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Makalu, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu. After crossing the pass, descend to Lobuche, a small settlement at 4,930m. The descent can be tough on the legs due to the altitude, but the scenic beauty and accomplishment of crossing the pass make the journey unforgettable. Overnight at a teahouse in Lobuche
Day 10: Trek from Lobuche (4930m) to Gorakshep (5140m) and Everest Base Camp ( 5360m)
Today is one of the most exciting days of the trek as we head towards Everest Base Camp. We begin by trekking from Lobuche to Gorakshep, a short but challenging walk due to the altitude. Once in Gorakshep, take a short break before continuing towards Everest Base Camp. The final stretch is a thrilling, yet tough, ascent, but reaching the base camp is a moment of triumph. At 5,360m, you’ll be standing at the foot of the world’s highest peak, with incredible views of the Khumbu Icefall. After spending some time at the base camp, return to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.
Day 11: Trek from Gorakshep (5140m) to Kalapathar (5550m) and stroll back to Dzongla( 4830m).
Start the day early with a challenging but rewarding climb to Kalapathar at 5,550m. This viewpoint offers one of the best panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other surrounding peaks. After spending some time enjoying the view and capturing photos, descend back to Gorakshep. From there, continue your trek towards Dzongla, a small village at 4,830m. The walk to Dzongla is mostly downhill, giving your body a bit of a break after the altitude. Spend the night in Dzongla.
Day 12: Trek from Dzongla( 4830m) to Thagank (4700m) via Chola La ( 5420m).
Today is a challenging day as we cross Chola La Pass at 5,420m. The ascent is steep and requires careful navigation, especially due to the high altitude and snow conditions. Once at the top of the pass, enjoy stunning views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding peaks. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, descend to Thagnak at 4,700m, where we will spend the night. The trek is strenuous, but the reward is the incredible landscape and sense of accomplishment. Overnight at a teahouse in Thagnak.
Day 13: Trek from Thagank (4700m) to Gokyo (4790m).
Today’s trek is a relatively short but scenic walk to Gokyo at 4,790m. The trail passes through a beautiful valley, crossing streams and offering views of the surrounding peaks. As we approach Gokyo, we are treated to views of the Gokyo Lakes, a series of stunning turquoise lakes nestled in the mountains. The village of Gokyo, located near the lakes, is a peaceful spot where we can rest and acclimatize. Overnight at a teahouse in Gokyo.
Day 14: Rest Day in Gokyo ( 4790m)/ Explore day in Gokyo Peak (5360m) or Fifth Lakes/ Ngozumpa Tsho ( 4990m).
Today is a rest and acclimatization day in Gokyo. You have the option to explore Gokyo Peak (5,360m), which offers panoramic views of the Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu ranges, along with the stunning Gokyo Lakes. Alternatively, you can visit the Fifth Lakes or Ngozumpa Tsho (4,990m), another beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Both options offer remarkable views and an opportunity to enjoy the high-altitude landscape. After your exploration, return to Gokyo for a well-deserved rest and overnight stay.
Day 15: Trek from Gokyo (4790m) to Marulung ( 4150m) via Renjo La (5360m).
Today’s trek takes us over Renjo La Pass at 5,360m, one of the highest points on the trek. The ascent is challenging, but the views from the top are spectacular, with panoramic vistas of Everest, Makalu, and the Gokyo Lakes below. After descending from the pass, we continue through alpine terrain towards Marulung at 4,150m, a peaceful village where we will spend the night. The descent can be tiring, but the beauty of the landscape makes the journey worthwhile. Overnight at a teahouse in Marulung.
Day 16: Trek from Marulung ( 4150m) to Thame ( 3800m).
Today, we descend from Marulung to Thame, a beautiful Sherpa village at 3,800m. The trek is relatively easier compared to previous days, offering a pleasant descent through forests and pastures. Along the way, we pass small villages and enjoy views of surrounding peaks, including Thamserku and Kwangde. Thame is known for its peaceful atmosphere and rich Sherpa culture. We will spend the night at a teahouse in Thame, resting and enjoying the village’s charm.
Day 17: Trek from Thame (3800m) to Manjo ( 2,835m).
Today, we begin our descent from Thame to Manjo at 2,835m. The trek is mostly downhill, passing through lush forests and small Sherpa villages along the way. As we descend, we are treated to peaceful surroundings and views of the lower valley. Once we reach Manjo, we can relax and reflect on the amazing journey. The village is a popular stop for trekkers before heading back to Lukla. Overnight at a teahouse in Manjo.
Day 18: Trek from Manjo ( 2835m) to Lukla ( 2800m).
On the final day of the trek, we make our way from Manjo to Lukla at 2,800m. The trail is mostly downhill, passing through lush forests and beautiful scenery. After reaching Lukla, take time to rest and reflect on the incredible journey through the Everest region. This evening, you can celebrate your achievement with the team and fellow trekkers. Overnight at a teahouse in Lukla.
Day 19: Fly back from Lukla ( 2800m) to Kathmandu (1,400m).
Today, we take a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas as you soar over the mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after completing the trek. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on your adventure in the Everest region and enjoy some free time in the vibrant capital city. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 20: Final Departure
On the final day of your journey, you will be transferred to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to do some last-minute shopping or explore the city.
As you leave Nepal, you’ll take with you unforgettable memories of your incredible trek through the Everest Three Pass Trek.
