Kanchenjunga Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You will be met by your Discovery World Trekking (DWT) guide and transferred to your hotel. Relax or explore Kathmandu at your convenience.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
A full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley. Visit iconic landmarks such as:

Day 3: Fly to Suketar, Trek to Lali Kharka

Day 5: Trek from Khesewa to Mamankhe
Trek downhill to Kabbeli Khola, passing through lush terraced fields and small rural settlements. Continue past Anpan village and cross the Khaswa stream, following the path as it gently ascends toward Mamankhe. Day 6: Trek from Mamankhe to Yamphudin

After soaking in the stunning sight, descend into the Simjua Khola valley and continue your trek to Tortong, where you’ll rest for the night in this peaceful village.
Day 9: Trek from Tortong to Tseram
Cross several passes, including Sinion La (4,440m) and Mirgin La (4,480m), before reaching Sinelapche La (4,840m). Enjoy stunning views of the eastern Himalayas and descend to Tseram for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Trek from Tseram to Ramche

Day 12: Trek to Yalung Ri Base Camp
Trek up to Yalung Ri Base Camp (5400m) to acclimatize, taking your time to adjust to the higher altitudes. The trek offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including dramatic vistas of glaciers and rugged terrain. It’s the perfect opportunity to soak in the grandeur of the mountains while allowing your body to prepare for the journey ahead.
Day 13: Return Trek to Ramche
Return to Ramche by retracing your steps, enjoying the panoramic views as you pass the Yalung Glaciers and crystal-clear streams. As you descend, take the time to reflect on your experience at Yalung Ri Base Camp, savoring the memories of the summit and the stunning landscapes that have surrounded you throughout the journey.
Day 14: Trek (6 hrs) to Salleri over the Mirgin La (4480m)
Today’s trek is challenging as we ascend steeply and cross several false summits before reaching the Mirgin La pass. Once at the top, the panoramic views of Jannu, Makalu, Gyakung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, and Chamalang are awe-inspiring. After the pass, we descend and continue trekking down the valley to our campsite beyond the pass.
Day 15: Trek (5 hrs) to Ghunsa (3475m)
The trek today involves descending to Lamba Sumba Kharka, where we have our first glimpse of the south-west face of Jannu. From here, we make a pleasant stroll through a forested trail to the Tibetan village of Ghunsa. Ghunsa is a picturesque settlement with wooden houses, colorful prayer flags, and stunning views. Don’t miss trying Tongba, the local alcoholic drink made from fermented millet seeds.
Day 16: Trek (6 hrs) to Khambachen (4040m)
We begin our trek with a gradual ascent through rhododendron and pine forests along the Ghunsa Khola. Along the way, we’ll pass several mani walls and chortens. As we gain altitude, the views of Jannu become increasingly dramatic. After crossing several glacial moraines, we reach Khambachen, a small Tibetan settlement with stunning mountain views.
Day 17: Exploration day at Khambachen (4040m)
Today is an acclimatization day in Khambachen. You’ll have the option to join a short walk to Nupchu Khola for breathtaking views of Mount Jannu. The rest of the day is free for resting and acclimatization.
Day 18: Trek (6 hrs) to Lhonak (4790m)
From Khambachen, we trek through azalea and rhododendron forests along a lateral moraine. We’ll pass by the seasonal yak herder’s camp at Ramtang and cross under a landslide area. The terrain then opens up to rocky fields and moraines as we approach Lhonak, a great spot for views of Wedge Peak, Mera, Nepal Peak, and Twins.
Day 19: Trek (4 hrs) to Pang Pema (5140m)
Today’s trek takes us to Pang Pema, a stunning location that offers panoramic views of the north face of Kanchenjunga. The trail ascends the lateral moraine from the Kanchenjunga Glacier, crossing rocky sections and landslide-prone areas. As we reach Pang Pema, we are rewarded with spectacular views of the Kanchenjunga massif.
Day 20: Trek (5 hrs) to Kanchenjunga Base Camp (5100m) and Return to Khambachen
Today, we trek up to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp at 5100m, where we enjoy panoramic views of Kanchenjunga and the surrounding peaks. You can also take an optional short hike to a ridge north of Pang Pema for an even better view of Kanchenjunga. After spending some time at Base Camp, we descend back to Khambachen for the night.
Day 21: Trek (6 hrs) to Ghunsa
We retrace our steps and descend back to Ghunsa. The trek back is less strenuous, allowing us to enjoy the familiar scenic views with a fresh perspective. As we make our way down, the lush forests, mountain vistas, and peaceful surroundings create a relaxing atmosphere, making the return journey just as memorable as the ascent.
Day 22: Trek (4 hrs) to Amjillassa (2460m)
We descend through picturesque forests and grassy hillsides, enjoying the beauty of the landscape. As the trail becomes steeper and more slippery, we take our time to navigate the challenging path. Eventually, we arrive at Amjillassa, a peaceful spot where we set up camp for the night, surrounded by nature’s tranquility.
Day 23: Trek (5 hrs) to Syakathum (1600m)
The descent today is steep as we make our way to the junction of the Ghunsa Khola and Tamur River. The trail follows the riverside, offering beautiful views of the rushing water and surrounding landscapes. We eventually reach Syakathum, where we set up camp near the river, listening to the soothing sounds of the flowing water as we rest for the night.
Day 24: Trek (5 hrs) to Chirwa (1200m)
We continue our descent, crossing the Simbu Khola and following the same river we trekked up from Torontan. The climate becomes warmer at this lower altitude, and we see cardamom growing in the forest. We reach Chirwa, a village nestled among large boulders.
Day 25: Trek (5 hrs) to Suketar (2420m)
Day 26: Fly (35 mins) back to Kathmandu
After a hearty breakfast, we take a scenic 35-minute flight from Suketar back to Kathmandu. The flight offers a final chance to enjoy the stunning mountain views before descending into the bustling city. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after your unforgettable trek.
